Bazhulu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by No. 1 Regional Survey Party under the Yunnan Geological Bureau in 1973, and was first cited publicly by the Compiler
Jingeng Sha (coordinator) Group for the Regional Stratigraphic Chart of Yunnan Province in 1978. The naming section is located at the Bazhulu 36 km south of the Yangbi County town, Yunnan Province, and stretches till the Huakaizuo-Yangbi River.
Synonym:(坝注路组)
Lithology and Thickness
It is composed largely of purple mudstone, siltstone and silty mudstone, intercalated with fine-grained sandstone and a small amount of calcareous conglomerate, with a thickness of 741 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It underlies conformably the Hepingxiang Fm
Upper contact
Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next younger unit as Jingxing Fm of latest Jurassic-early Cretaceous
Regional extent
The formation is distributed mainly in the Lanping and Jiangcheng areas, with a local distribution of it in the areas of Jinggu-Mengla and the Lancang River. The lithology of the formation is more or less consistent in various places, but with a greater change in thickness from place to place. In the Sanjia Village of Nanrun area it is composed chiefly of mudstone, with a thickness of 1176 m, while at Yongpingjie its thickness is of 680-1560 m, and along the bank of the Lancang River its thickness is only of 83 m.
GeoJSON
Fossils
It yields Ostracods as represented by Darwinula incurva, D. changxinensis, D. cf. impudica, Metacypris monosulcata, Djungarica sp.; and Chareae as represented by Euaclistochara yongpingensis, E. nuguishanensis.
